A  2017  MESSAGE  TO  MY  VISITORS

First of all, I wish to thank all of you who visited my site in 2016.

Looking back on 2016, I am hard pressed whether to declare it a good year or a bad year.  I had several things on my to-do list and finished few of them. On the other hand, I had a few positive surprises and accomplishments which were not planned.

FIRST: Here is what I wanted to accomplish and actually finished:

  • My 2015 "Battle of Baluns" field research on baluns for an 80m OCFD. Finished very late (June) due to very long lasting winter.
  • The design of and building of a working model of the new Aerial-51 807-UL (and 807) OCFD antenna.  I actually have two working 807-UL and one of them has been on the road with contesters and DX-peditioners non-stop.  Feedback is very positive.

Here is what I accomplished, although I had not planned for it when the year began:

  • The creation and bringing to market my own brand of hf transceiver. The Aerial-51 Model SKY-SDR is now on the market and selling.  In the past I never even dreamed of having my own brand of radios.
  • The design of an 80m antenna which occupies the space of a 40m dipole, yet uses no traps.  This antenna is working but not fully optimized.  I have not yet published any information on how I accomplished this.
  • Obtained permission from Fred Annecke to use all of his father's catalog content on my web site.  With this, I can now post any of Alfred Annecke's original documents on my web.

Here is what I planned, but failed to accomplish:

  • Establishing production of the 807 and 807-UL antennas by Spiderbeam.
  • Updating my MATCHBOX SHOOTOUT file
  • Uploading a detailed description of the 3rd Symmetrical matchbox by DF2BC.  In the meantime Alfred has published information on yet a 4th matchbox and it looks better than the first 3.  Lots to do here.
  • Continue working on the section "Modern Antennas".

INDEED, THE LIST OF FAILURES EXCEEDS THE LIST OF ACCOMPLISHMENTS.

I continue to receive positive feedback from hams who have built one or more of the antennas from the plans posted on my site.  So far all has been good feedback.

IF you build one of the antennas described here, please write to me and let me know how it works.  I welcome any suggestions for improvement.

2017:

I guess the best thing I could do is clean up the mess I left behind in 2016!

PRIORITIES:
  • Finally finish and launch the 807 family of OCFD antennas.
  • Create 3 or 4 suggestions for 60m antennas.
  • Finish the half-size 80m antenna and upload the plans to my web.
  • Announce and deliver a new hf mobile transceiver as 2nd product in my line of hf transceivers.
  • Finish uploading DF2BC's matchbox plans to my web.
  • Finish the MATCHBOX SHOOTOUT update.
  • RETIRE FROM SPIDERBEAM  (on December 31)

I WISH ALL OF MY VISITORS HEALTH AND HAPPINESS FOR 2017.

MOST OF ALL I HOPE THE WORLD

CAN FIND A WAY

TO LIVE TOGETHER IN PEACE.
