ANTENNA HEIGHT is a very important attribute of any hf antenna. It is especially important for horizontal antennas, and low band vertical antennas.
Low cost lightwieght telescoping fiberglass poles give us an excellent method of obtaining height, but in order to do that reliably and avoid breakage, you must pay special attention to ALL components of the antenna, including wire, feedline, and INSULATORS.
INSULATORS, once made of heavy porcelean, are now available in several different composite materials:
- Epoxy (FR4)
In this section of my web we will look at typical lightweight insulators and show some examples of how to use them.
