Feedpoint Position for 1 Wavelength of Wire
The Model Results shown below compare a full wavelength of wire fed 25% from one end with that same wire fed in the middle (50% from the end).
As can be seen, feeding the antenna as a classical center-fed dipole produces a nice cloverleaf radiation pattern with 4 distinct lobes - as seen in the bottom drawing.
When we move the feedpoint to 25% from either end, the pattern changes dramatically, as can be seen in the top drawing.
Which pattern is best will depend on the needs of the operator.
NOTE: THIS IS SIGNIFICANTLY DIFFERENT THAN MOVING THE FEEDPOINT ON A HALF WAVELENGTH WIRE.
The same change on a half wavelength length of wire only changes the feedpoint impedance. It does not change the radiation pattern.
